Pothead is an American-German band from Berlin. Guitarist/vocalist Brad and bassist Jeff Dope are originally from Seattle, Washington. Drummer Sebastian Meyer is from Olpe, France.

Inspiration for the title of their 1994 album, Rumely Oilpull, came one day as the band was playing "Threshing Bee." The doctor who owned the office above the studio came stomping down screaming about the music sounding "like a giant engine shaking the house."

Jeff, having much experience helping his uncle run his Oilpull back in Seattle, instantly came up with the name for the new album.
